Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Outline Technologies LLC, the company that operates Vid2Shorts (vid2shorts.com), when you use the service. We kept them short and readable on purpose, and we did not leave out the parts that matter. Using the site means you accept them; if anything here does not work for you, the right move is simply not to use the service.

1. What Vid2Shorts is

Vid2Shorts is a browser based video editor. You bring in a video you have the right to use, by pointing the service at it, and it helps you cut that video into short vertical clips: it transcribes the audio so captions can be burned in, it suggests which passages of the transcript would stand on their own as a clip, it reframes the picture so the subject stays in shot, and it renders a new short video. You choose the moment yourself on a timeline, or accept, move or ignore the suggestions. Every frame in an export is footage you brought. The service generates no text, images, video, music or voices of its own, and it cannot create or swap faces or clone a voice.

The first Short is free without an account. Paid plans lift the daily limit and remove the watermark.

2. Your content, your rights, and what you warrant

You choose what to process, and that choice carries the responsibility with it. By bringing any video, audio, image, text or link into Vid2Shorts, you represent and warrant that you own that content, or that you hold all rights, licences and permissions needed to use it, to have it processed by us on your instruction, and to distribute the clips you make from it.

What you may process, concretely:

• Your own recordings and uploads, which is the intended use of the service.
• Content you have a licence or written permission to repurpose, such as a client's channel you have been engaged to clip.
• Content released under a licence that allows it, such as Creative Commons or royalty free material, within that licence's terms.
• Content you are using in a way that qualifies as fair use or fair dealing where you live, such as commentary or criticism. That is a legal judgement you are making, not a setting we provide.

What you may not process: anyone else's content without the right to do so. Copyright, publicity and privacy laws differ by country, and you are the one who knows your situation. Your use of a source platform is governed by that platform's own terms, and complying with them when you choose what to process is on you.

Ownership stays with you. We claim no ownership over anything you bring in or anything you make with the tool. So that we can actually run the service, you grant Outline Technologies LLC a limited, non-exclusive, royalty free licence to store, transcode, crop, transcribe, caption and otherwise process your content, solely to provide the service to you and for as long as your files are in your library. The licence ends when the files are deleted. We do not use your content to train machine learning models, and we do not show it to anyone else: there is no public catalogue, feed or search, and nothing you make is visible to other users.

You are solely responsible for the content you process and for the clips you make. If a rightsholder tells us something was processed without permission, we act as the DMCA policy sets out: the rendered files are removed, the source is blocked from being processed again, and repeat infringers lose their accounts.

3. Who may use it

You need to be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and at least 13 in any case. If you are under 18, use the service with a parent or guardian's agreement, and do not buy a plan without their permission. If you are using it for a company, you are confirming that you are allowed to accept these terms on that company's behalf.

Outline Technologies LLC is a United States company, so we follow United States trade law. You may not use the service if you are located in a country under comprehensive US sanctions, or if you are on a restricted-parties list, and you agree not to pass access on to anyone who is.

4. Your account

You can use your first Short with no account at all. Beyond that, an account keeps your clips, settings, and plan in one place. The deal on accounts is simple:

• Sign up with a real email you control, or with Google sign in. What we hold and how we treat it is spelled out in the privacy policy.
• Your account is yours alone. Keep the credentials to yourself, and tell us fast if you think someone else got in.
• What happens under your account is on you, so long as we did our part keeping the lock on the door.
• One person, one free tier. Farming free Shorts with a bag of throwaway accounts is the one account trick we actively police.

5. Connected channels and posting

If you connect a channel, for example YouTube, Vid2Shorts can upload your finished Shorts there for you. Three promises and one responsibility come with that:

• Nothing is posted unless you initiate it. No background posting, ever.
• The connection uses the platform's official consent flow and API, and you can disconnect in your dashboard or revoke from the platform's side at any time.
• We store the connection token server side and use it only for the uploads you request.
• What you post through us must follow the destination platform's rules. An upload sent by Vid2Shorts on your instruction is still your upload.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• process content you do not own or have the right to use, or that infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, publicity or privacy rights;
• use the service for anything unlawful, deceptive, defamatory or harmful, or to make sexual content involving minors, non consensual intimate imagery, or material that incites violence;
• flood the service with automated requests, scrape it, resell access to it, or use its output to build a competing model or service;
• probe, bypass, or interfere with its security, rate limits, or free tier controls.

We may throttle, block, remove content, or refuse service to protect the platform and the people using it. We would rather never do this, and almost never have to.

7. Plans, payments and refunds

The free Short exists so you can judge the quality with zero risk. Paid plans are priced and described on the pricing page at the moment you buy; all prices are in US dollars, the price you see at checkout is the deal, and there are no credits and no hidden metering. Access is delivered immediately on payment.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price, monthly or annually according to the plan you chose, until you cancel. You can cancel in one click from your dashboard at any time; cancelling stops the next charge and keeps your access until the end of the period you already paid for. Founder is a single payment and never renews. A card charge appears on your statement under Outline Technologies LLC, the company that operates Vid2Shorts, usually shortened to OUTLINE TECH, sometimes alongside the processor's own name, because Stripe is the merchant of record for card purchases.

Payments are handled by established third party processors: card payments by Stripe, and cryptocurrency by NowPayments. They receive your payment details directly on their own pages; we never see or store a card number. Stripe acts as merchant of record for card purchases, which means Stripe is the seller for that transaction and handles the sales tax or VAT on it, and your statement may show their name alongside ours. By paying you also agree to the processor's own terms for the transaction.

Refunds are governed by the refund policy: an unused purchase is refundable within three days, no questions asked; once Shorts have been rendered the work has been done; and anything we made that came out broken is our problem regardless of the date. If a purchase ever goes wrong, write to us and a human will fix it. Billing disputes are handled by conversation before anything else, and we would rather refund you than argue with you.

8. Availability, accuracy, no warranty

We work to keep the service fast and available, and we publish honest status information when something breaks. Still, the service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement. Video platforms change constantly, and a processing pipeline that depends on them can fail in ways we did not choose. When that happens we fix it; what we cannot promise is that it never happens.

Captions are produced by automatic speech recognition and suggested moments by automatic analysis of the transcript. Both can be wrong, and both are yours to check and edit before you publish. Vid2Shorts is a tool; the judgement, and the published result, are yours.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Outline Technologies LLC, its members, officers and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for free users is zero. Nothing in these terms removes rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Outline Technologies LLC and its members, officers, contractors and agents from any claim, demand, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from content you processed or published through the service, from your breach of these terms, or from your violation of any law or of any third party's rights. In plain terms: if you clip something you had no right to clip and someone comes after us for it, that is on you, not on us.

11. Third party platforms

Vid2Shorts is an independent editor. It is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, TikTok, Meta or any other platform, and all trademarks belong to their owners. Where you connect a channel, the connection uses that platform's official API and consent flow, and using it makes you subject to that platform's own rules as well as these terms:

• YouTube. Uploading through us is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data by the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke our access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• TikTok. Posting through us is governed by the TikTok Terms of Service and their community guidelines.

Titles, descriptions and privacy settings on anything you publish are yours to set and yours to get right. Where you point the service at a video hosted elsewhere, your use of that platform is governed by its terms, and you are responsible for complying with them.

12. Copyright complaints

We respect the rights of creators and respond to notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The full process, the designated agent, the counter notification procedure and the repeat infringer policy are published on the DMCA page.

13. Sorting out a disagreement

Talk to us first. Almost everything gets solved in one email, and we would rather fix a problem than win an argument about it. Before starting any formal proceeding, send the details to [email protected] and give us 60 days to put it right. Most disputes end here, and this step is not a formality: it is the one that has worked every time so far.

If that does not resolve it, you and Outline Technologies LLC agree that any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of the service will be settled by binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be held in English, and may be conducted by documents, by phone or video, or in Sheridan, Wyoming, at your choice.

Three things sit outside that, and we would rather say them plainly than bury them:

• Small claims stay in small claims court. Either of us may bring an individual claim there instead, and nothing here stops you.
• Either of us may ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property or unauthorised access, without waiting for arbitration.
• You can opt out. Email [email protected] with the subject line “arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first accepting these terms and this section does not apply to you. Nothing else about your account changes, and we will not treat you differently for it.

Claims are brought individually. Neither of us may bring a class action, act as a class representative, or have claims consolidated with anyone else's. If that restriction is ever found unenforceable, this whole arbitration section falls away with it and the dispute goes to the courts named in the next section instead. This section survives the end of your account.

14. Termination

You can stop using the service at any moment, and you can delete your account by writing to us from its email address; deletion removes your data and any stored channel tokens, as the privacy policy describes. We may suspend or end access for abuse of these terms, including repeat infringement. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, paid users with active time remaining will be treated fairly.

15. Who you are dealing with, and which law applies

Vid2Shorts is operated by Outline Technologies LLC, a limited liability company registered in Wyoming, United States, at 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Where consumer protection law in your country gives you rights that cannot be waived, those rights stand.

16. Changes to these terms

If the service changes in ways that matter, these terms will change too, and the date at the top moves. Continued use after a change means acceptance. We will never hide a significant change in the fine print; significant means visible.
