Is Eklipse still free in 2026?
Not for clipping. Eklipse's own blog, updated in July 2026, says the free clipping plan ended in June 2026 and that the product is fully paid, with a free account, a free preview of a couple of clips and free browser utilities remaining. Its homepage still carries "Sign Up For Free" wording, so read the plan page before you rely on either. Vid2Shorts keeps a free tier of one Short a day.
What is the difference between Eklipse and Vid2Shorts?
The source and the signal. Eklipse connects to a live stream on Twitch, Kick, YouTube or Facebook and scores moments on game events, audio spikes and chat. Vid2Shorts takes a YouTube link and scores moments on what was said. One is built for streamers, the other for anyone with a long talking video.
Can Vid2Shorts clip a Twitch or Kick stream?
No. The source has to be a YouTube link. If your stream is also uploaded to YouTube, the VOD works like any other YouTube video, and Pro covers sources up to four hours. If it only lives on Twitch or Kick, Eklipse or a similar stream tool is the right choice.
Which is better for a gaming channel?
For live gameplay, Eklipse, because its detection is tuned to the game and the chat, and ours is not. For the talking parts of a gaming channel, a review, a tier list, a podcast episode with a guest, the transcript is the better signal and that is what we read.
Does Eklipse add captions automatically?
Its homepage says clips come with editable auto generated captions and templates, and it lists a free AI caption generator among its browser tools. We did not verify word by word timing or translation on their pages in October 2026, so the table says not checked. Vid2Shorts times every word from the transcript and can translate the captions.
Does Eklipse post the clips for you?
Yes. Its content planner posts to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and Facebook, and its content agent queues clips for approval after a stream ends. Vid2Shorts publishes to a connected channel from the dashboard, with nothing automatic and nothing posted that you did not press the button for.
Can I use both?
Easily, and for a streamer who also uploads long videos it is the natural split: Eklipse on the live stream, Vid2Shorts on the YouTube upload. They do not overlap much.
